How the desk works

  • Public records, council papers, court lists, Traffic Wales, ONS, Home Office, health-board figures. If it is in the release, it runs.
  • No party line. Housing, crime, asylum support, waits, 20mph, Port Talbot — the same rules. We do not pick a tribe and write backwards.
  • If we summarise another outlet, we say so. We do not wholesale rehash Wales Online or the Argus.
  • Court: we file what was said in court, on the list. We do not name defendants on a first listing and we do not run a mugshot as content. That is due process, not a gag.
  • Sponsored files are labelled. Awards sponsors do not pick winners. Corrections go on the story, dated.
  • Replies need an account. Place files stay a file, not a ratings war. “Been here?” is a note on your device only.
